Host information:
On Wednesday of Falmouth Week the place to be is sailing with Flushing Sailing Club either in the Bay or Carrick Roads then enjoying an excellent tea plus drinks from the bar on the quay where the prize giving is held as the sun sinks over the river to the music of a well known local entertainer. Flushing village has two good pubs and a superior restaurant as well as lovely walks along Trefusis point to watch the racing from the headland during the afternoon. Depending upon the weather some of the traditional fleets may finish on the club line.
The launch (call Flushing Launch on Channel 37 / M1) will bring you ashore or over from Falmouth side if you call “Flushing launch” and for short stops there are a variety of buoys off the Quay or steps to tie the dinghies. For all the family there is also a ferry running regularly to the village quay from Prince of Wales pier.
The club started in 1921 as a response to the Sunbeam fleet and has been the home of traditional racing since those days. Workboats large and small, Gaffers, Sunbeams, classic cruisers as well as state of the art sports boats and IRC rated yachts all sail weekly with the club and in a variety of events during the season.
