Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust
A volunteer led local charity that provides
“ Sailing for All”
Founded in 1997 by John Green MBE with just 4 Puffin Dinghies and some sea scouts
it now has over 300 children from 18 Primary and Special Needs Schools and 100 volunteers
coming sailing, rowing and learning about the sea and its shores
Every Week from May till October.
Learning to Sail, at any age, is proven to build confidence for life. Some of our instructors and
volunteers started sailing with us as 8 year olds, others on the team came to the sport late in
life learning skills they thought were beyond their capability and pockets
The ethos of the Trust is that no child or volunteer be denied the experience because of lack
of money. Believe it or not our area of Cornwall is statistically one of the lowest income areas
in the UK.
That is why we need your help to sustain and build on our programme.
